Why the hell would Rip van Winkle ever be "the fuck toy of every man in the ranks, except for one"? (Yes, that is an actual quote.) Ever? Ever?!

Particularly during Hellsing, she is respected. Respected! It is amazing how often (percentage-wise - I'm not finding a lot of fics) I've seen by now the oh woe is me, I'm only their playtoy/entertainment, because I'm a weak girl, waaaah, angst! and it's ridiculous.

...Because you know, even if one of them tried making an unwanted move at her, why wouldn't she just shoot them into oblivion? Or kill them with superior vampire!skills?

Please don't take her as anything less than a threat, just on the basis of how she got killed easily by Alucard. Nearly everyone gets killed easily by Alucard.
I know I'm late to the fandom, but is there a good Rip fanfic hiding somewhere? Would anyone happen to have a recommendation? Pretty please? Additionally, a Dandy fic-rec would also be appreciated; poor him is so ignored.

Ok, folks, a quick word about lubricant. This is not a rant about what kind to use or when to use it. No, it's far more basic than that. When two (or more, for that matter) people are having sex and one of them has lube on his or her hands, when that person tries to grip their partner... they CAN'T! The whole *point* of lubricant is to make a surface slick.

I see the lights coming on out there.

I remember the first time I encountered this in RL and man, did we get a giggle or two out of it. Well, I did. I don't think he thought it was all that funny when his hand slipped off my hip and he proceeded to lose his balance and fall off the bed. :-) (Ok, he thought it was funny later... much later. :-)

The point is, when you have someone whose hand is "slick with lube" successfully grip *anything*, you're missing the point. ;-)

(Sheets, or discarded clothes, are great for removing excess lube from hands - generally only takes a moment, too. Course, you're not going to wear that t-shirt until it's washed... well, unless you're into that sort of thing. :-)

I was going to write a not so nice comment mentioning the fact that despite the fact you have your fic labeled NC-17, H/C, non-con, PWP, gen (I'm not sure how that jives) and squick, your 400 word fic had nothing that resembled any of those. It also didn't contain the characters you mentioned. In fact nothing happened. Two characters had a few lines of dull, uninformative banter, and then one walked off.

I was going to write a comment about misusing the ratings system, but then I realized you meant this to be the first "chapter." 400 words is not a chapter. It barely qualified as a scene.

If 400 words tired out your imagination to the point where you needed to take a break and publish, I have no faith that you will ever get to that squicky, h/c, non-con, pairingless lemon you have planned. I doubt you will even write chapter 2. Congratulations for falsely advertising your worthless stump of an idea and coming up first on a dozen search lists you don't qualify to be on.

The story is bad anyway, but this just irritates me. You don't need to put silly commentary in the middle of a paragraph! And telling us that you're going to own people, I mean your character is going to own people... just... what? Why?

Has anyone else seen this in fics?

Okay, so you're writing Owen Harper as a six year old. I can live with that, even though there are very few people who can manage to write him IC as an adult. It's your choice. 

But killing his father in the first (very short) chapter? Jumping perspectives without warning? Using childlike language and terminology one minute and complex ideas and concepts the next? Having his (previously seemingly stable) mother turn to alcoholism a few hours after his death? Jesus.

Do. Not. Want.

This is probably a pretty common rant. I wonder - has anyone managed to write a child in fanfiction without him/her being awfully OOC?
